Pickleball in Mesquite, Texas
Mesquite centers pickleball at Westlake Sports Center, a staffed municipal complex with four courts, reservations, low-cost sessions, three age-specific beginner classes, memberships, and seasonal leagues. Indoor recreation-center courts provide weather alternatives, but Westlake has the city's most complete pickleball program.
Where to Play Pickleball in Mesquite
Westlake Sports Center
600 Gross Road, Mesquite, TX 75149. Westlake has four outdoor hard and concrete courts with permanent lines, portable nets, lights, restrooms, water, dressing rooms, and a pro shop. Adult 90-minute sessions cost $5 for residents and $6 for nonresidents. Juniors and players 55 and older pay $4 resident or $5 nonresident. Courts can be reserved online or in person up to seven days ahead.
Hours are 9 a.m. to dusk or 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to dusk or 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to dusk or 6 p.m. Sunday. Three-month individual memberships cost $75 resident or $90 nonresident and include court fees, half-price ball-machine use, and one guest fee.
Evans Recreation Center
1116 Hillcrest Street, Mesquite, TX 75149. Directly across from Westlake, Evans has two indoor gym courts with pickleball lines and portable nets. It serves as the closest indoor alternative for scheduled recreation sessions.
Rutherford Recreation Center
900 Rutherford Drive, Mesquite, TX 75149. Rutherford provides one indoor gym court with portable equipment. It is most useful for programmed play or a small group rather than a large drop-in crowd.
Pickleball Lessons in Mesquite
Westlake offers beginner lessons every Tuesday in three age groups: ages 8-17 from 6 to 7 p.m., ages 50 and older from 7 to 8 p.m., and adults 18 and older from 8 to 9 p.m. A session series costs $40, or players can drop in for $15. Classes teach movement, technique, and basic skills using low-compression balls. Private instructors are listed in the Coaches section.
Leagues and Play Days
Westlake runs adult and 50-plus leagues along with clinics, team play, and seasonal tournaments. Its free summer Pickleball Play Days provide all equipment and welcome every age; the 2026 series ran June 27, July 25, and August 29.
The Mesquite Winter Pickleball Classic returns as a multi-day regional event with all-age and senior divisions. City leagues and each new clinic are posted on the Westlake pickleball page with registration links.
Visitor Tips
Westlake is the clear first choice. A nonresident adult can book a 90-minute session for $6, borrow the facility's portable net, and use changing rooms and the pro shop. Tuesday evening is best for a first lesson, while league and team sessions suit experienced players seeking organized competition. Evans and Rutherford are indoor program venues rather than all-day dedicated courts, so use Westlake unless weather forces play inside.
